Ramadan Moon Sighting Telescope
I used to search the night sky trying to find the Ramadan moon. It was such a magical concept, to view the moon that would signal the start of the holiest month for all the Muslims across the world. Moon sighting is a tradition.
To prepare the kids to get excited about the event, lets make a telescopes to help spot the moon!

Pie Tin Moon Phases Display for Ramadan
This was our moon phase’s display for Ramadan. It also served as a sort of countdown to Eid.

You need to use some disposal aluminum pie tins that I usually save for painting projects. Great way to reuse. We added on to the display as the month went by.
To use the pie tin you first have to crush them. The boys will have a blast doing this of course. ;P
From this point forward an adult should be handling the crushed pie tin. Using a kitchen scissors, cut the tin into the appropriate moon phase shape. (CAUTION: The edges will be sharp!) You need to choose an empty wall to display and kept them high so that your youngest will not be able to touch the tins.
